The new and refreshed BMW X1

BMW X1 receives significant update

Now in its third generation, the BMW X1 has grown up, both in size and in terms of its technology offering, both of which have been further refined as part of its latest mid lifecycle update.

The BMW X1 offers and authentic experience for those motorists looking for a great all-rounder, that offers the ability to explore while also perfectly slotting into the daily grind. The interior’s progressive design and sophisticated ambience now features a broader selection of standard equipment compared to the outgoing model, further reinforcing its premium character.

Distinctive, modern design

Distinctive design features include powerful proportions, almost square wheel arch contours and the signature BMW X model styling of the front and rear ends.

The redesigned front end is now much more upright which gives the X1 a greater sense of presence along with slim LED headlights, a large, almost square BMW kidney grille, X shaped lines towards the side and eye-catching chrome strips in the lower air intake. Adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam, pulsating turn indicators and variable light distribution are available as an option. Embedded door handles have a massive effect on the overall design, creating a monolithic perception.

Sculpted surfaces and a long roofline are distinguishing features of the new models stretched silhouette. When viewed from the rear the slim tailgate, horizontal lines, LED lights and flared wheelarches contribute to the typical SAV look.

xLine models are equipped with specific design elements such as underbody protection while M Sport derivatives place the focus firmly on driving pleasure with features such as large cooling air inlets. All models are fitted as standard with 18-inch alloys, while 19 and 20-inch options are now also available.

Premium interior

A raised seating position and a progressive premium ambience are bolstered by a redesigned slender instrument panel, BMW Curved Display, a floating armrest with integral control panel, which replaces the previously utilised iDrive controller, and smartphone tray at the front of the centre console.

Additional specification includes BMW Maps navigation, a Sport leather steering wheel, two-zone automatic climate control and an expanded offering of driver assistance systems compared to that of the outgoing model.

The new X1 is also fitted with the latest-generation BMW Live Cockpit Professional Plus which is based on BMW Operating System 8 and comprises the BMW Curved Display along with BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. The fully digital screen is formed by the 10.25-inch information display and the central display which measures 10.7 inches. The broad-based digitalisation of the interior enables the number of physical buttons, controls and switches required for operation to be significantly reduced.

A personal eSim, BMW Digital Key Plus, the BMW ID functionality and updated smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto are also available.

Newly developed seats are available with the standard Sensatec perforated or Vernasca leather upholstery. Improvements have also been made to the acoustic comfort and occupant protection with the integrated passive safety concept now including a new interaction airbag between the front seats.

The rear seats now include three full-sized seats that offer a notable improvement in seating comfort and can be split in a 40:20:40 fashion to expand the boot capacity up to 1 600 litres.
