BMW showcases all-new X2 and iX2

BMW have unveiled the second-generation BMW X2, which is more distinctive, even sportier and more forward looking thanks to larger dimensions, a prominent coupé silhouette and dynamic lines. The BMW X2 is now also available with all-electric drive in the form of the BMW iX2 and with a large spread of systems enabling automated driving and parking as well as innovative digital services laid on by the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and BMW Operating System 9.

Proportions, lines and surface treatment exude sporting prowess, individuality and a confident presence with a clear differentiation from the BMW X1. Exterior dimensions exceed those of its predecessor in every direction and an increase in wheelbase and track widths benefits spaciousness, ride comfort and driving dynamics. Targeted optimisation of aerodynamic properties increases efficiency, range and acoustic comfort.

The front-end is characterised by slim LED headlights alongside an almost hexagonal BMW kidney grille featuring optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting. An eye-catching rear-view features prominently flared wheel arches, powerful shoulders and a gurney style spoiler. 17-to-20-inch wheels are fitted as standard depending on the model variant. The roofline, which flows along an unbroken path into the rear end, creates a slim, coupé-shaped silhouette and proportions in the signature style of a BMW Sports Activity Coupé.

Generous levels of interior space and a modern cockpit design

A modern, driver-centric cockpit design focusses on digitalisation. Standard equipment includes voice control and the BMW Curved Display with touch-sensitive functionality that enables broad based reduction in the number of controls. A floating armrest features an integral control panel for the newly designed gear selector lever, volume control for the audio system and other function buttons. 

New BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and BMW Operating System ensures an innovative digital service which includes BMW Digital Premium. A fully digital screen grouping is made up of a 10.25-inch information display and 10.7-inch control display.

Standard specification has been expanded substantially compared to previous models and now includes navigation system BMW maps, two-zone automatic climate control, Park Assist, reversing assistant and innovative digital services.

The BMW Digital Premium offering from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store brings gaming, audio and video streaming into the car. Smartphone integration is possible thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while a personal eSIM designed for the 5G standard can be used in the car. The My BMW App provides a universal digital interface.

A generous, variable-use space for five people and load capacity can be expanded from 560 litres to 1 470 litres via the folding down of the rear seats in a 40:20:40 fashion. The seats feature a new design that is said to be optimised for long-distance comfort and extended functionality.

Diverse model line up

The forward looking vehicle architecture of the new BMW X2 enables flexible production of models with both fully electric drive and highly efficient petrol and diesel engines on a single assembly line.

The model line-up at the time of launch in 2024 will include the all-electric BMW iX2 xDrive30, BMW X2 M35i xDrive M Performance model, an additional petrol variant and one diesel-engined model. A second all-electric variant and another diesel model will be launched towards the end of 2024.

The BMW X2 M35i xDrive Performance model utilises a 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine with 221kW which is distributed via all four wheels and is fitted with adaptive M suspension as standard, optional M Compound brakes and an exhaust system with two pairs of tailpipes indicates standout performance. This model can accelerate to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds.

The all-electric BMW iX2 xDrive30 utilises two highly integrated drive units on the front and rear axle to generate a system output of 230kW and 494Nm, allowing this model to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5,6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 180km/h. A combination of the high-voltage battery’s impressive 64.8kWh and high efficiency enable a range of up to 449 kilometres.

An optimised blend of signature BMW sportiness and compelling ride comfort is underpinned by extensively upgraded chassis technology and model specific tuning.

A wide range of systems are available for automated driving and parking and standard fitment includes cruise control with brake function, the latest version of front collision warning system and the parking assistant which includes reversing assist camera and reversing assistant.
