BMW George to expand its Garden route operations

BMW George goes from strength to strength

BMW George opened its doors as Lynn Schroeder Motors on the 1st of March 1992 and is currently the only BMW approved dealership on the Garden Route, situated halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.

BMW George strives to be the preferred premium automotive dealer on the Garden Route. They are focussed on our customer’s needs, and aim to serve with a professional, motivated team of experts who make the customers experience a priority.

Following its acquisition by Motus last year, BMW George is going from strength to strength. BMW George are currently in the process of building a brand-new facility that will allow the dealership to better serve the needs of its customers.

With dealer principal Leon Bodenstein at the helm, BMW George has been performing admirably and this new facility will assist in taking the dealerships performance to the next level.

“We will be moving to a new bespoke facility in January that incorporates the latest BMW corporate identity. The new facility will be the second of its kind in South Africa. We are really looking forward to the new facility as it will offer a completely new look and feel and is located near the big shopping mall and other dealers in George, so we believe it will be good for our business,” explains Bodenstein.

“Our dealership has always been involved in the community, events and outreaches wherever there is a need and we have become known for that. Similarly, the new dealership is being developed by local people and local contractors as we always try and support local businesses,” says Bodenstein.

A New Chapter for BMW George

BMW George’s continuous growth and success can be attributed to a number of factors. Over the last few years there has been a lot of growth in the George area with an influx of new residents who are relocating to George and the dealerships workshop is a great way of meeting those new customers as they come to service their vehicles in their new neighbourhood.

“We try to treat everyone who visits our dealership well and it is a priority for our staff members as the dealership’s reputation and their reputation is extremely important, especially in a relatively small town such as George. Our staff is really customer focused and we try to always provide a good customer experience and encourage feedback so that we can improve on that offering,” adds Bodenstein.

“As Motus we are fully accountable for all our wastage. The new facility is being built with a number of green provisions in mind including a full solar system and backup batteries. The new wash bay will also use recycled water,” explains Bodenstein.

The current economic environment remains a challenge but fortunately on the Garden Route we have more cash customers as well as well-educated consumers, so the interest rate is less of a challenge. In addition, BMW is very strategic with subsidies and deals under prime which helps us to make targets.

“Being part of a big group like Motus offers a number of advantages including job security for staff, which leads to peace of mind and good morale. It also offers a support system and financial backup if we need things like equipment,” adds Bodenstein.

Apart from outgrowing their current facility BMW George are also in the running for the 2023 rural sales dealer of the year as they have achieved the required targets and KPIs to date and are pushing hard to achieve that goal.

“We were also recently nominated by the public for a Best of George award in the best new car category and are working hard to get the required votes and holding thumbs for that announcement, which will be great for marketing,” says Bodenstein.

“The staff at BMW George are certainly one of the dealerships greatest assets. I have an awesome staff compliment, all of which are team players. Our F and I manager Janine van Tonder was recently nominated as Motoring Woman of the Year in her category and that is a great achievement for her as well as for our dealership,” adds Bodenstein

The staff complement includes two BMW master technicians Jaco van der Westhuizen and Ruan Audie as well as BMW Motorrad master technician Emile van der Merwe.

“In terms of exciting new products, the all-new BMW M2 and XM are certainly attracting people to the dealership, and we also look forward to the facelift of the 1 Series and 2 Series models later in the year,” concludes Bodenstein.
